Meest Introduces Fuel Surcharge for International Shipments
In response to ongoing global market shifts and the continued rise in fuel prices, Meest is introducing a fuel surcharge for international shipments.
Starting April 15, 2026, the following rates will apply:
-
$0.35 per kg for air shipments
-
$0.25 per kg for sea shipments
Fuel costs have increased considerably in recent months, affecting logistics operations worldwide. This surcharge is being introduced to help offset higher transportation expenses across the entire delivery chain, including first-mile pickup, air and ocean freight, and final delivery.
The surcharge is variable and will be reviewed on a monthly basis, with adjustments made in line with fuel price fluctuations. We will continue to monitor market conditions closely to ensure the surcharge reflects actual cost changes.
Industry-wide, fuel surcharges are a standard practice. Major international carriers already apply them, often reaching 30% or more of the shipping cost depending on market conditions:
-
Canada Post - adjusted weekly
-
Purolator- adjusted every 4 weeks
-
DHL - adjusted every 4 weeks
-
Canpar - adjusted weekly
-
UPS - adjusted weekly
This change is already applied to domestic or expedited shipments, as fuel-related costs for these services are already included.
Meest remains committed to delivering reliable and cost-effective international shipping solutions. Introducing this surcharge allows us to maintain consistent service quality and operational stability despite ongoing increases in fuel and transportation costs.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in Meest.
